| Our military HUMVEEs require body armor in a climate where the ambient temperature averages 120ºF. The US government charged TACOM with finding a solution to reduce the in-vehicle temperature to improve the comfort of our service personnel using these vehicles. |
| SMP was a major contributor to a redesigned HVAC system for this HUMVEE. Three of our Temperature Control division plants, in the US and Canada, engineered, manufactured and supplied the A/C Compressor, Evaporator, Heater Core, Condenser Coils, Front and Rear HVAC Motor Housing Assemblies, and the Condenser Fan Assemblies. |
| As the result of SMP engineering and ingenuity, the in-vehicle temperature was lowered from 95ºF to 83ºF for a 13% reduction. SMP met all stringent military specifications such as the Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) MIL-Standard-461E and MIL-STD-202 Method 101 for 1,000 Hour Corrosion Protection when designing and manufacturing these application-specific components. SMP means problem solved. |
| Due to our innovative engineering on the military HUMVEE where enhanced A/C was needed due to the required body armor (used in theatres around the world), SMP is involved from the outset in the HVAC design for the ‘next generation’ military vehicle scheduled for production in the latter half of 2009. Our contribution will include engineering solutions and manufactured supply for the Front HVAC Motor, the Rear HVAC Blower Assembly, Heater Core, and Evaporator Assembly components for the complete HVAC system. |
| Because of our past success providing innovative solutions to even the toughest challenges, we are already engaged in the systems development for the Military JLTV vehicle. The JLTV has a target implementation date during the 2010 thru 2012 time period and SMP is involved on the ground floor. |
| SMP has engineered and developed a Dual Blower Assembly earmarked for use on a CNH (Case New Holland) steer loader for our military. We are in the final testing phase and when approved this will be a long term manufacturing commitment. |
| SMP has begun development and submitted samples for review and approval for a European Tele-Handler application for military use. This is a collaboration between SMP engineering teams from various SMP divisions. |
